The Nightmare Project is a sound composition using recorded sounds from around the house and manipulating them into a narrative. The project is meant to be listened to individually through headphones in a dark enclosed space.
I like to collect sounds the way people collect objects. Sound fascinates me. Every day millions of sounds inform our lives. I have begun to catalog these noise informants. I would like to bring to light the sounds we ignore that are integral to the space in which we move.
These Archives are made available to the public through a gallery installation and the Internet, so my investigations can grow and be shared. The gallery installation was a catalog of the Archives at a certain point in time. The internet will have a public sound library that will allow me to continue gathering the resonance of daily activity. The photos are from The College of New Jersey art gallery.
