I like to collect sounds the way people collect objects. Sound fascinates me. Every day millions of sounds inform our lives. I have begun to catalog these noise informants. I would like to bring to light the sounds we ignore that are integral to the space in which we move.
These Archives are made available to the public through a gallery installation and the Internet, so my investigations can grow and be shared. The gallery installation is a catalog of the Archives at this point in time. The internet will have a public sound library that will allow me to continue gathering the resonance of daily activity.
Faux-Go is a direct recording to explore how our imaginations fill in the details when no visual information is provided. The soundtrack is recorded from the boarding of an airplane through the take off. The monotony of the sound lets you pick up on the undertones you would not normally recognize with visual distractions. When listening the the piece in its entirety, you give your mind a chance to wander, forgetting the space immediately around you, and absorbing the space defined aurally.
